The Art Discipline of Recovering

Pastor Jeremy D. Battle

In this sermon in Pastor Battle’s series titled “The Art & Discipline of Recovering,” he uses 3 scriptures to help us understand how we can recover from the unanticipated circumstances we encounter - Romans 8:24-39, 2 Corinthians 4:7-9, and Philippians 4:11-13. We will encounter (painful) events in life that have nothing to do with God. However, God, through His grace & mercy, can work through these experiences for our good, even if God never intended for it to happen in the first place (Rom. 8:28; 2 Cor. 4:7-9). Furthermore, Pastor Battle reminds us that even when we are weak, the Holy Spirit intercedes on our behalf to protect us and give us what we need to recover from life’s unexpected circumstances (Rom. 8:26-27). Finally, we should be encouraged because of God’s unwavering love for us. Even though we may deal with difficult realities, God’s love for us and desire for His excellency to be revealed in us allows us to see there is nothing that God cannot help us recover from (Rom. 8:37-39; Phil. 4:11-13).
