Many persons within the greater Boston area have unfortunately suffered personal and financial challenges as a result of socio-economic disparities and unexpected circumstances. Western Avenue Baptist Church, in response, has been a source of benevolence and support for those in need.
We dedicate financial resources towards these efforts through our Benevolence Fund. With this Fund, we partner with local financial institutions to combat homelessness and home ownership concerns among low-income families within our community. We also respond to families experiencing crises (home displacement, abuse and neglect, and financial hardship). We have partnered with DOVE (a women’s and children’s shelter that protects victims of domestic violence) to provide clothing and necessities for their residents. During the holidays, we work with organizations such as Cradles to Crayons to support families with hygiene and clothing supplies. We also provide free dinners every Wednesday night during our Bible study experience.
Western Avenue also supports students in need of additional resources through our Benevolence Fund. We provide book scholarships to those pursuing higher education and in collaboration with local businesses and organizations, sponsor school supply drives as children prepare to return to school. We have also hosted college prep seminars for students in conjunction with the Stanford University Alumni Association, Harvard Medical School Seeds of Hope Initiative, and the Harvard DivEx program.
None of this would be possible without the generous support of our donors who have continued to embrace Western Avenue's commitment to helping those in need. If you would like to join this group of supporters and contribute to our Fund, click here, and mark your gift as Benevolence in the "Give To" line.
